Family Ministry

We see the youth and family ministry as the responsibility of the whole congregation and happening in many settings.  With the support of the congregation, there are many diverse opportunities for faith development and learning about God.

Child Care

Child care is provided by credentialed individuals for infants through children aged five years old.  It is available during the church school and worship hours on Sunday morning, special events, and also during choir practice to enable parents to participate.

Church School

Church school is held for all ages from September through May on Sunday mornings from 9-10am. Additional information about church school may be found here.

Junior High Fellowship

We invite youth in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades to participate in the Junior High Fellowship. The fellowship program runs for the length of the school year and is divided into 3 focus areas: Fun, Friendship, and Fellowship. The youth leadership team develops activities geared toward the junior high age level that are designed to encourage the development of friendships while in fellowship together. Activities include: mission activities, movies, games, hikes to destinations unknown or events off Grove’s campus.

Senior High Fellowship

Our senior high youth group is much like the church itself -- a larger extended family. We meet monthly for fellowship, faith, and service activities. On any given Sunday afternoon, you may find us wandering a corn maze, baking cookies for Christmas caroling, swinging through a high ropes faith-building excursion or just hanging out watching a movie.

Every summer we participate in a service-based mission trip as a way to give back to communities and individuals in need. This time of service and faith allows the youth to show the world what being a true Christian means.

Our senior high youth also enjoy a winter retreat to Camp Krislund for an escape from the everyday pressures of life. This fun filled weekend is great way to rest and reconnect with the one another and spiritually with one who gave His all for us.

Other Activities

  • Welcome baskets for new infants
  • Hand-printed receiving blankets saying “Jesus Loves You, We Love You, Too” presented at baptism
  • Presentation of Bibles to third graders
  • Confirmation trips experiencing other worship styles
  • Children’s choir
  • A resource room filled with children’s books, parenting helps, teaching ideas and inspirational books support those working with young children.

Special events such as mission Sundays, Advent Family Nights, Sacrament Fairs, Arts Camps, Traveling Day Camps, caroling and other special activities round out the experiences. With so many events available for young families, we demonstrate a strong sensitivity to the multi-dimensional way in which children experience and express faith.
